Re: skirting issue
We always use a "Vinyl siding snap lock punch" we put a couple of tabs in the bottom of each panel. On homes in wind prone areas we will also use wind rods. I cant remember the last time we got a call for a wind blow out from one of our skirting installs. The srews will eventually become a...

Re: Deck post suggestion (to bury or not to bury...)
If you are only sealing the bottom 3 feet the wood will still be able to dry out, if you were encapsulated the entire post that would be a different story. The sealant we used was a thinner consistency than the leak stopper. I dont remember exactly what it was, it was a number of years ago. Last yea...

Change the ignitor! It has a flame sensor built in to the tip.....these some times fail.

Re: Deck post suggestion (to bury or not to bury...)
I agree pour the concrete first (or use a deck block or pill) set the post on top. You also may want to consider sealing or tarring the post from the ground level down to the concrete to give added protection to the wood. This is what I did when I built my shop (pole barn) and have no signs of rot o...

Re: Drain for hot water heater pan
Being that you have a gas water heater in a MH it is most likely a sealed combustion tank. (if its not it should be especially if its in an inside closet) Underneath the tank is a air vent that is cut into the floor to draw combustion air from under the home. Do not put a drip pan over this vent. If...

Re: 10-2 or 10-3 Wire for AC
1.This is electrical if you are not sure sure hire a professional. 2. I thought this topic was taboo on this forum? Bill is correct, on a Nordyne (Intertherm, Miller & Broan) they are 220 wired with 2 hots and a ground. No neutral. The 2 hots are also known as L1 & L2. Neutrals are "typ...

Re: Rapid Wall Skirting
Tim, Downside to Rapid Wall is initial cost. As you and Greg mentioned its pricey.....shop it around though prices will vary. The only other drawback is its only available in 3 colors. However it will hold up to a weedwacker much better then traditional vinyl as it is much thicker and has better bac...

Re: philips crank out window
Philips closed its window and door plants last June. If you contact a bunch of MH supply strores you may get lucky. Better option would be to just upgrade the door.

Re: leaking window
Most of the vinyl windows today have weep holes in the bottom track. Open the window and look in the bottom track, you are looking for 2 small holes in the bottom plate of the track. These holes allow any water that enters the track to flow to the outside. Sometimes they can get clogged from dirt, i...

Re: new metal roof over old metal roof ?'s
The product we typically used is recommended for 2/12 and greater. I have been using it on domed roods for years with out any trouble. make sure you get a panel with a low profile rib. Half inch is perfect for this application anything taller and the metal will not form as well to the dome. The ribs...

Re: New Interior Door
If you are purchasing "solid wood" doors as you mentioned why not just trim 1" off the bottom. Then it will have the same gap as it did before.

Re: Hot water Heater
If you have hard water and the element has never been removed you may have to fight to get it out. Or you never know it may twist right out easy. As for installing a new one I'm not sure I've ever seen a torque setting recommendation. Just make sure you are using a new rubber gasket with the new ele...

Re: new metal roof over old metal roof ?'s
To the OP. JD is on the money with the Polyiso foam. If its in the budget for the better foam then get it. Easier to work with as it is stiffer and will give you an extra point or two on R value. However I would use the furring strip regardless of wether you use fan fold or thicker panels. If you ju...

Re: new metal roof over old metal roof ?'s
Look through this thread. Domed roof like yours. Drip edge on the perimeter furing strip. True 1x material was used along with 1" foam. 3" of overhang past the drip edge was added. No gutter was used.

Re: Miller CMF-80 PG No blower?
Cut out 95 Cut in 115 ( you could adjust this to 120 but no more) Limit 190 To adjust settings turn off power. Remove cover from control box push the silver disc in to hold in place and adjust tabs to proper settings. FYI the CMF's from the mid 80's to early 90's are notorious for the heat exchanger...
