Re: Ceiling - sheetrock failure
Its a long shot, but when the roof vent was replaced, how much did the repair man weigh? I have been looking into doing some work on the eaves and was planning to get on the roof. I contacted a local manufacturer of manufactured homes, and one of the guys there suggested that I should use crawling b...

Re: Anchoring Relocated MH Help
Having made my first foray under my home today and run into these odd diagonal braces, I started doing some digging into them, internet style. I found there is a massive amount of information on tie-downs for manufactured homes, and some interesting twists. First off, there is a (often misunderstood...

Re: wall panel removal
I assume that the ceiling socket is fairly close to the wall. If not, you may need to modifry this! First, use a stud finder to make sure there are no horizontal studs in your expected run. Once you hace a clear runm make a hole in the wall at the top where the cable wil enter. At the required heigh...

Re: My little project - Redman Homes Brighton 1996 model 561
Unfortunately, my camera was one of the items taken in the burglary which resulted in me finding a new pad, and eventually landing here! I'm going to grab a new camara though and start recording the progress ... might help some others too! The boat is definately back burner for now though, sorry, fi...

Re: My little project - Redman Homes Brighton 1996 model 561
Thanks for the answers guys - now to get my coveralls on this weekend and go crawling!! Nice idea on the vegetable oil - that's a great answer! Thanks! I'll check the lag bolts this weekend, and also do a full inspection of the underside while I'm down there, make sure there's no other surprises lur...

Re: Excessive dust
If you are sure that the dust is coming from outside, then build an air washer to take it out. For the dust already in the ducts, I would rent a shop-vac with a high rating and use that to purge the ducts first. As far as the air washer is concerned, use the principals involved in a swamp cooler, wh...

Re: washing machine drain hose
Since the washer is no longer in the wash room, think of this as two separate projects: The washer is going to go here and there is no plumbing for it. Install the plumbing for the hot and cold water, as well as the drainage, using the most economical route to the supply lines and the main drain. Th...

My little project - Redman Homes Brighton 1996 model 5613
Hi all! I recently purchased a Redman Homes Brighton 1996 model 5613, which is 16 x 64, and has 2 beds, 2 baths, living, kitchen/dining and a washer area inside the back door. On the whole, the home is in good condition, but I'm working through it bit by bit (and living in it) and finding some littl...

Re: ideas for connecting this deck
I would agree with the guttering added to the side of the mobile home, but I would also add some flyscreen material above it, suspended from the deck roof and hitting near the bottom of the guttering. This is because, in the case of heavy rain, drops hitting just above the mating point will splash o...

Re: Load Bearing Wall????
Just because the wall is offset from the peak does not mean that it is not load bearing. Remember that the peak is the joint between the two halves of the building, and something needs to hold it up - in the case of a double-wide, each half of the building needs to move as an independent unit, and s...
