Re: Raised Threshold on Entry Door: Tripping Hazard
Actually all doors are placed on the sub floor. Most doors purchased today are pre hung units and they have at least a 1 1/2" think threashold on them. It is so it can clear flooring and carpet but sometimes when there is vinyl or tile inside there is always a little lip to step over. If the th...

Re: New Kinro brand windows??
The thing is Greg, these are just for my summer place and trying to keep the cost down. Not looking for anything special just can't stand the sliding aluminum ones that are in there now. Over the years I have installed plenty of Pella Thermastar windows and have not had any callbacks on them so I ju...

Re: New Kinro brand windows??
Thanks Gregg, That's enough for me to stay away from them. I knew someone on here would have heard about them. Glad I asked. I guess I will just special order in the size i need from Pella or Reliabuilt.

New Kinro brand windows??
Well, I have installed over 500 windows with my business but never used this brand of window. I have a 23 x 40 home that was a prefab with the two halves that go together and it does have 2x4 walls but they used a lot of mobile home parts in it when it was built back in 1973. It sits on a block foun...

Re: Loose lay vinyl in a double-wide?
Agree with 1987Commodore, Even if the plywood has knots in it they will show thru after a while. I always use Luan Plywood under all types of vinyl products and fill the seems flush. It's only 5/32 thick so it does not raise the floor much. Also make sure the vinyl you use is installed the way that ...

Re: Need help with a leak
I would almost bet it is a bad PB line. Especially if you don't use that tub much and it is still getting wet. What is behind the faucet in the tub? Does the wall back to another room that you could maybe cut a hole to get access? They make plastic access panels you can put in after you make a hole ...

Re: mobile home shower drain question
Also does anyone have any instructions for reinstall with a new one? Pretty sure I know how it goes but would just like to make 100% sure. Not sure exactly what you have but it should be, Put plumbers putty under flange, Drop in shower or tub base, Install rubber washer, Install cardboard or plasti...

Re: Automatic vents
So you are saying that you only have three walls for your foundation? If so I don't see any need for any vents. What holds up the edge of the house where the deck is?

This is what I would use. Last a long time and between the pressure treat and this the would will last over twenty years if you re-coat it every few years or so.

Re: washing VENTED soffit and fascia
I would hit them with some cleaner and a scrub brush first then you could give them a quick lite spray with the hose to clean them off. I would not let the hose sit in one spot too long but a quick rinse should not be a problem.

You can use the Lowes ones. I think they even have them set up for PEX, if not you will need an adapter connection. I know the brand Oatay has them with PEX connectors.

Where are you located? I just had to un-freeze one the other day hear in Delaware. Check where it goes outside it might be frozen, especially if it has been windy.
