Re: Total Remodel
Hi all,, it's been a while since I last posted. First,,, we've sold our regular home and have moved into the mobile home full time. It's been a bit of an adjustment and most of our stuff is in storage but the wife is happy as it's really easy to clean. Happy Wife = Happy Life! We'll be building a ne...

Re: Total Remodel
wow! You have done a wonderful job redoing your home! I just love love love the paint color of your master bedroom! Is the bathroom the same shade as well? If you remember the name/brand of it, would you care to share? The bed and bath are painted the same color,,, but the bath is semi-gloss. The p...

Re: Total Remodel
Wow that's scary .. have they discovered the cause yet? That reminds me that I need to get a fire extinguisher before I move into mine. From what I read,,, the need to move a lot of the burnt material to get to what they want to see. Frankly,,, I don't see how they could figure it out,,, there is n...

Re: Total Remodel
We had a huge scare yesterday. The home two down caught fire. It was origionally a single wide that the previous owner had expanded onto over the years. The biggest thing was the second floor master suite. The new owners have only had it 8 weeks. There has been alot of work going on so maybe someone...

Bedroom is done. I've got to say the bed/bath area is just sooo much nicer than what it was. The pictures don't do it justice. I've got a closet organizer going in this weekend as well as the art work over the headboard. http://lsspecialists.com/Bedroom-done2.JPG http://lsspecialists.com/Bedroom-don...

Re: New kitchen cabinet advice
I did the In-Stock Home Depot pre-assembled cabinets last year. Only issue I had was I put a screw through a power line for the undercounterlights mounting the microwave. Other than that just like any other kitchen I've done.

Re: 54 x 31 Tub Replacement Options
JD,, thanks for your thoughts. I did find a 54x30 tub at Home Depot for $150 and one at lowes for $419 so they are an option. I've been looking into cultured marble surrounds. Looks like I could get them made for about $400 which seems pretty good. They guy says you stick them up with construction a...

Re: 54 x 31 Tub Replacement Options
Thanks fro your thoughts Greg. I went to a local Mobile Home supply yesterday and took a look at the 27x54 shower as well as the tub. The 27x54 shower was a bit narrow for me,, tub was OK. Both were fiberglass and OK quality at best. Tub was $259 and the surround was $399. I'd be looking at $650 for...

54 x 31 Tub Replacement Options
Well the renovations for the second bath are in the research phase as I need to figure out what I'm going to do. The bath tub seems to be a standard MH size 54" X 31" and I really don't have the room or desire to change the foot print so I'm trying to determine all of my options. I haven't...

Re: removing batten strips
I had issues with this myself. The reality is you feather it out,,, way out and it can look OK. Also if you're looking for a smooth finish they'll be lots of sanding involed which means lots of dust. Here is a couple of shots of walls in my place. http://lsspecialists.com/KB-8.jpg http://lsspecialis...

Re: Counter trim
Lisa,,, What is the edge of the couter made of?? If it's wood I would think construction adhestive would work. You would need to clamp it somehow as it won't stay by itself. When I did mine, I put construction adhesive (comes in a tube like caulk) on the trim and nailed it with a brad nailer. I nail...

Re: Corners
I've been redoing my drywall as I've been remodeling each of the rooms. 1/3" drywall was installed everywhere just not finished. I removed all of the batten (thin wood) strips that covered the joints, screwed in all of the drywall, then finished. For outside corners as Greg suggested, metal cor...

Re: Total Remodel
Thanks for the kind words. We're getting close on the master bedroom. Floor is in,, closet doors hung. Lots of trim left to do. Crown, baseboards, trim closets and doors. I'd guess two more weekend worth of work. I'm getting the weekend off as my wife's nephew and his Mom are comming to visit. Weath...
