Converted an Intertherm Model MAC1155 over to propane this year and can't get rid of the propane odor in the house now. Have pressure tested - no leaks. The furnace had set for about 3 years before putting it in use again, but never had an odor when on natural gas. The orifice was changed out. The roof cap was removed and the vent pipe inspected - no visible damage, leaks or rust. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
RogerO
Problem after converting MAC1155 to Propane
Thanks for responding, Robert. Yes, the orifice was changed and the red spring plug installed. The flame looks good and all seems to be working correctly, except for the odor, which shows up after it has been heating a few days. Am not using the furnace until we can figure out what is going on and sure hate to have to buy another for the few times it is used. Any more suggestions?
Thanks,
RogerO

Hi Roger,
It would be guesstimates at this point and with it being a gas furnace and the smell of gas, not good to guess.
LP is more volatile also and even more dangerous to misdiagnose.
I would get a Tech out to thoroughly test it with equipment that should locate odor.
Don't feel safe from here and your safety and those in home with you is always number one priority with me.
Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Some people are Humbly Grateful, while some are Grumbly Hateful.................... Which one are you ?
Thanks for trying Robert. Did have one tech check it out after converting it over to LP and was assured it was working fine. Will see if I can fine someone else to test it.

Hi Roger,
You're very welcome, that would be best. A professional guess is ok IF you can at same time test to verify.
Full operational testing should reveal something.
Please let us know if problem located.
Take care and best wishes,
