We came home today and my bag got stuck on the door. With out even thinking I went to kick open the door but I missed the frame and kicked out the metal panel... Im not sure how old the door is but we live in a 1979 that had a enclosed porch added on at a later date and this storm door is the main and only door into that porch. I CAN NOT afford to replace the entire door so I need to know how to fix it. Only the top half came out when I kicked it but my husband proceeded to take the entire panel out and bent up some of the ends in the process:( The door is the kind that had 2 glass panels on top and the bottom one moves up to reveal the screen and then the metal panel is at the bottom.
I called lowes and they told me there was not way to fix this but I have to believe there is. There must be something I can do bc I just cant replace the door.
Any idea, info, a link to send me to (i searched and couldnt find anything), video. Anything Im so desperate right now its sick.
thank you!
How to fix Metal Panel on Storm Door

Hi & welcome. If the door frame is screwed together you may be able to remove the bottom piece and slide the panel into place.
Another option would be to screw a new "decorative" panel on the door in place of the aluminum panel.

"If I can't fix it, I can screw it up so bad no one else can either."
Well we were able to get the door apart but the panel is to bent for it to go back in.. We called the hardware stores around us and no one sells anything that can be used as a decorative piece:(
We were told they have a piece of metal that should fit it but we would have to cut it and we just dont have the means to do it.. Not sure what we are going to do but its pitch black here now so its going to have to wait till tomorrow:(

check out your local yellow pages for a "sheetmetal fabricator" or "sheetmetal work" and then call around to see if they have a scrap pirece to fit your door.
also you could check your local big box home center for "decorative sheetmetal" as shouwn in the link below
