Hello All. I am new to this forum and appreciate all the info that is available. Thank you!
I own a very old 1969 24' x 48' MH. Currently the MH has anchors(8 4 on each side) attached from just below the roof with a cable running a couple feet away from the MH. Not to mention that these are an eyesore but tripping on them is no fun either.
Is there a way to retro fit these cables so they run inside the wall or underneath siding? Do they need to be attached just under the roof? Could they be mounted lower?
Thanks, Ron

Hi & welcome. I woud think that you could move the ground anchors so they are at least even with the skirting. Are the tiedown straps factory or an after market kit?
I am sure others will add to this and give you their thoughts. Greg

I believe most factory tie downs are flat metal straps, that run under the siding. It sounds to me like it is something that was added, perhaps for code requirements. Greg

I think that would depend on the regulations or codes in your area. If you have poured piers or footers you may be able to bolt to the I beams. If you are in a park, check with the office for their requirements, other wise check at the town office for their requirements. Greg

Call some Licensed MH installers in your area. Ask if they can give you a free estimate. I think it will run about $400
That sounds like a lot but they would supply new metal straps and maybe anchors. They have a machine to drive the anchors in the ground.
I have installed anchors by hand (we screwed up and so the boss punished us by not bringing the machine)
Installing Anchors by hand is not fun. It is winter time so I guarantee the ground is hard.
Since people cant afford to buy MH right now... you might get the job done sooner.
