My mom is the same way. She is 68 years old. She complains about the condition of her house but will not let me fix anything. I tell her just buy one thing every week, one week a piece of plywood, the next week a concrete block. She won't budge. If you complain to the authorities their house may be ...

I went to visit a semi-girlfriend. It is shaky but she still has my DVD player so I have to be nice... Anyway I changed from my jeans to gym shorts to watch a movie with her. I put my jeans on the floor. After the movie I got up to leave and her cat had tinkled on my jeans. I asked her if she and th...

Window Unit AC - Interior Condensation
One of my window unit AC units had condensation on the interior. It is very humid in Arkansas so it is not that unusual. The little fan would clatter and it spit water into the room. Eventually it began leaking down the interior wall. I found a siphon hose for gasoline, available at Auto Zone... one...

RE: Ground Level Home
In Arkansas the requirement is for the bottom of the Frame to be ONE FOOT off the ground. If you lower the home it will have to be re-leveled during the process. This is not that big a deal but I recommend a professional with a License and a Surety Bond. I am guessing it will cost less than $1,000 a...

If you wire brush you need to prime right away. If it sets overnight the rust will magically re-appear. Dont use oily rags to wipe the dust off. I like to use 70 percent Isopropyl alcohol because it evaporates and dont leave a residue. If you ever use the Stop Rust Stuff in the posts mentioned above...

Different states have different rules about how much tobaccco you can legally have without a license. Check your local laws. They raised the tobacco tax in Arkansas this past Feburary... Excuse me.. they didnt raise it. They just imposed the tax twice. I am in some talks with people to correct the s...

Raising ceilings would affect the structural integrity. Since I do Demolition, I have seen the structure beneath the walls. I advise against raising the ceilings. Windows you would have to get from a mobile home parts dealer. Look in the yellow pages or ask some MH installers for one in your area. D...

Call some Licensed MH installers in your area. Ask if they can give you a free estimate. I think it will run about $400 That sounds like a lot but they would supply new metal straps and maybe anchors. They have a machine to drive the anchors in the ground. I have installed anchors by hand (we screwe...

I was a carpet helper for two years. I dont disagree with the heat tape. It is not what is sounds like. If you buy new carpet and your house is WIDER THAN 12 foot... you likely have a piece of carped SEAMED IN on one side of the room. Seaming in a piece is standard practice in the industry. The tric...

Yes if it is an older house, she may have to do some repairs. She may have to stay with you for a few weeks till her house is ready. It will only take a day to move the house and may cost $1000 just for the move. Repairs not included. A new mobile home will be under warranty but an old on will just ...
