Re: Painting walls
Thanks Trudi. I will look for a bonding primer then and no we didn't know enough 12 years ago to put primer on. Latex paint covered it well except for sheeting while putting it on at times. And we had help from friends and were desperate to get done and moved in at the time.

Re: Painting walls
Thanks Greg. Good idea. Last time I checked at the paint store there were young guys and they didn't know what to do. That was in the city. Maybe I"ll try some more local type store. Any of you out there have any ideas? What have you tried that worked? Especially as all the house has been paint...

Painting walls
WE have a 1984 doublewide. We painted our walls a few years ago. It was the vinyl coated sheetrock type wall. It still can peel or loose a chunk if anything sticks to it or it gets hit by the vacuun, etc. What should we do as it needs repainting again? Also, can we use texture paint on these walls?

My new auto carrier would insure the home but it is much higher premium than paying now so that didnt' work this time. Thank you everyone. You never know if your insurance is good unless you have a cl...

Homeowner Insurance
Its been awhile since I've posted but have been a member for many years. Remember the central Iowa day long visit Mark and Lise? My 1984 doublewide has been covered by homeowners insurance with our land. I lost my husband last fall and have been reviewing our policies. The company we are with now se...

How to cut crimps rings off PEX pipe
Hi everyone-Its been a very long time since I've posted but lurk many times a year. We need to replace the faucet in the Master Bath shower. It is behind a wall. We don't want to shorten the PEX or run new PEX so were wondering what's the best way to cut off crimp rings? If we don't we will have to ...

Re: Removing baseboard vinyl molding
Thanks for the info. Can you put the picture on here for all of us? I always like to see how someone has used materials. I'll check with the paint store. Sure would be nice to get the "goo" off those walls as I'm afraid to put wood over them until cleaned off since its in a bath and a good...

Removing baseboard vinyl molding
Has anyone done this? How do you remove the gooey mastic from behind once you pull off the molding? The walls and cabinet are made of some kind of sheetrock. Someone put in vinyl floor tiles and then put this vinyl baseboard molding down in our bathroom. I need to tear it all up as the tiles are cra...

Can't get album pictures to open
Am I doing something wrong? I go to the albums and click on one I want and a screen opens with a $ sign in upper left corner and blank everywhere else. All of them are doing it and I'm logged in.

RE: Drywall corners
Thanks JD. Now I'm getting enthused to try it in one of the bedrooms. Just need to get the time and energy. Don't know why I always think of this stuff with winter coming on in central IA. Its something that would cure better in spring or summer, right. And I need a new bathroom window before winter...

Drywall corners
Our old double wide has trim pieces (flat and about 1" wide)in the corners of the walls. I was wondering what you do when you replace the drywall. Does it work to tape and mud them? Anyone who has done their walls-even painting- please let me know as I've been trying to decide what to do for a ...

Posted same message twice
My old dialup here in the countryside is so slow I didn't realize I'd posted twice. Sorry guys. If I knew how to delete the extra one I would.

Hello Everyone!
Boy was I surprised after being away from the board a few weeks and finding I had to re-register. Great new look. I haven't figured out how to do my profile yet. Been a member of this board originally since nearly the beginning. I even remember when Maureen and Yanita weren't members. Older than dir...
