Sealing Windows
My mobile home is a 2001 Fleetwood singlewide, bottom of the line no-frills type. It has vinyl siding and typical inexpensive aluminum windows. Even though I had storm windows installed I can still feel cold air coming in around them. Today I was feeling around on the outside of the house and there ...

Gap around bathroom sink
I have the oval plastic sinks in my bathrooms and lamintated plastic (Formica-like) counter-tops. In one bathroom the "builders" cut the opening in the counter-top too big for the sink so there is a gap. I've tried shifting the sink to cover the gap but it doesn't help, the gap just appear...

RE: Converting a room to a screened porch
Goodness I am very pleased to see so many responses to my question! I too had thought of wind getting up under the roof if the room was an open porch and of course the whole roof would come up if that happened. Additional strapping would surely be prudent and that would involve almost total deconstr...

I hope my mothballs are not doing much damage being confined to my duct system. Is that what you mean? Can anyone reading this thread vouch for the efficacy of this Shake Away Mouse Repellent that perfecto is recommending? I'd be happy to use it if it works but it seems to me I've read negative revi...

RE: Abandon Ductwork?
I do have skirting and have tried to seal all openings but there is nothing stopping things from burrowing under the bottom edge of the skirting since it's just sand. Another place that is impossible to seal is where the outside A.C. unit duct enters the skirting to connect with the house ducts. I w...

Abandon Ductwork?
I have ongoing issues with my ductwork under my single wide mobile home. It has been damaged by mice and I know there are a lot of leaks because my electric bill is so high and also now and then another mouse moves into the duct and I have to trap it and it's just all such a pain. I have done everyt...

Converting a room to a screened porch
I own a 16' x 70' single wide, it's on my own lot. It's placed on the lot longwise - as in the short end faces the street and the front and back doors face to the left and right as you look from the street. So what is my front room is a big bedroom with two front facing windows. I'd like to convert ...

RE: Cold air dumping down under house from area of furnace
Thank you again Robert. I agree the duct should be fixed but no one wants to spend hours under the house as I did so if they have to they charge so much I can't afford them.

RE: Cold air dumping down under house from area of furnace
Hi Robert and thank you for your input. I did seal up the underbelly fabric there where the cold air was coming down from the vicinity of the (electric) furnace so at least that got done. And I believe I found and repaired all the other rips in the underbelly fabric too. I called the AC guy who inst...

Cold air dumping down under house from area of furnace
My mobile home is a 2001 Fleetwood singlewide. For heat I have a Coleman furnace in the hall that came with the home. For cool I have a separate air conditioner installed outside, it is the type that is compressor and air handler all in one. I knew I had a problem when a rat showed up in my duct. I ...
