Re: Water in "spurts"?
Is it possible that his well pump is short cycling? I had that happen a few months ago. Basically the bladder inside the pressure tank had ruptured, and filled the whole tank with water. This didn't leave much room for air, so there was minimal pressure and the water came out in bursts. If you turn ...

Re: Level / Re-Level Question
The home might be level, but shifted over the years causing the doorways to no longer be square.

Re: You're gonna do !WHAT! next year?
The master bath and bedroom have been gutted since we've moved in. So I'm going to get those done in the next month or so. After that, I'm gutting and redoing the laundry area. Then, getting started on the outside .. painting the siding, building a front porch, rebuilding part of the back porch and ...

Re: Best way to cut holes on VOG walls?
I bought this thing from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/electric-cutout-tool-42831.html It gets the job done, but is very messy and doesn't cut very straight unless you put some muscle into keeping it under control. You end up with drywall dust everywhere .. it got to the point where m...

Greg .. I'll be glad when it's over. And you're right .. in order to do 1 thing, you need to fix 3 related things first. Steve .. the Combat gel works great. We've been using it for a while, and do find dead bugs around where we put it. When I put the new cabinets in, I made sure to seal EVERY littl...

Re: Full Kitchen Remodel Progress
yes .. just a work light i was using to check for leaks. I ended up with an electrical outlet inside the cabinet to the left of the sink, so I may end up putting some lights in there in the future.

Re: Full Kitchen Remodel Progress
This isn't really part of the kitchen, but at the end of the hall that runs from the kitchen was a small closet. The doorway was tiny, and there was no actual door. I reframed the closet and installed a new 30 x 80 mirrored bi-fold door. The closet is also about 6" deeper and wider than it was ...

Full Kitchen Remodel Progress
Hi Guys .. We're still plugging away at an entire mobile home remodel. Lately, we've been making a lot of progress on the kitchen. Originally, it looked like this: http://i.imgur.com/0YZwQA2.jpg?1 We tore the entire room down to the studs, added new insulation, and hung new drywall. I built bases fo...

Re: Need to paint non-paintable caulk
was it silicon caulk? You can try rubbing the caulk (that sounds dirty!) with denatured alcohol and see if that helps:

Aside from removing and recaulking, maybe just put a paintable caulk over the non-paintable stuff?

Re: Interior Doors
I picked up a split jamb prehung door to replace the door going from the living room to the master bedroom. When I went to install it, I realized the split jamb was designed for 2x4 wall framing, and my place uses 2x3 for most of the interior walls. Oops. For the other 2 bedroom doors, I have all th...

Re: Kitchen Sink Question
Do you have well water? This happens to my toilet .. once a month or so, I disconnect the water supply line and purge the water line into a bucket .. the first cup or so comes out looking pretty rusty. Fortunately on the toilet side there's a removable filter, so I clean it out, hook the water back ...
