Re: Paper or Firberglass???
Yes paper is better, but mesh tape is easier to use. Even pros use mesh on butt joints.

Re: Roof deck raised up
I had a feeling it wasn't right. I don't do roofs but I am on them often to tell when something just doesn't look right. The dealers I bought my home from have been less than helpful. There have been a bunch of problems with my new mobile home and it is like pulling teeth to get them to fix anything...

Roof deck raised up
There is a spot on my roof that is raised. Not the asphalt, the board under it. The people who sold me my home said that happens sometimes because of the thinner plywood and that it was ok. Is it really ok? Sometimes I think I hear a drip in the wall but I can't tell if it is inside or outside. Than...

Re: wood stoves
I heat my single wide 95% with a wood stove. Working on chimneys is also what I do for a living. Take a stove's listed square heating with a grain of salt. How ever the stove is tested by the manufacturer you will probably not burn with the precision that they do. That being said, the numbers they g...

Re: removing old wood stove and chimney
Is it real brick? I have never seen a masonry chimney on a MH before. I don't have time to get one of my code books but I am 95% sure that if you do have a real masonry chimney it does not meet HUD code for a wood burning chimney in a MH. If the stove vent is in the back and went through a wall then...

Re: Winterizing your home!
Have your chimney swept and inspected by a CSIA chimney sweep before you start up your fireplace or wood stove. I know I sound like a broken record, but it's important.

RE: Which rain gutter style?
I have never seen a gutter guard that works 100%, and I install gutter guards as a side business. I always tell people that a good gutter guard will help but it won't fix the problem, you will always have to have the gutter cleaned once in awhile. But that is one of the nice things about living in a...

Get your chimney swept
It's that time of year again, and before you know it the cool air is going to blow. Don't forget to get your chimney swept and inspected by a CSIA certified Chimney Sweep before you fire up your fireplace or stove for the first time this season. You can find a sweep at this website by putting in you...

RE: Hot water and Cooking
Where I live (WV) electric is much cheaper. Bottled gas is always high. It might depend on where you live though. Ask around to see what other people are spending on electric. I spend , ballpark, the same on electric for my single wide as I did on my old two bedroom apt.

I like the looks of it, but I don't understand it. Most of what I see it comes with are things I am doing to my normal mobile home. How much is this "I-House" going to cost? (i house is a really dumb name by the way"

ceiling fan problem
I started to put a ceiling fan into my office today, but when I put the support bar in (like the one on this website) it didn't hit anything. Did I do something wrong or do they make longer bars, like 26"?

RE: Factory built fireplace
All HUD approved factory fireplaces are UL listed. That is as far as you can get when you ask if something is "safe". They are the same units that are put in most stick built houses. The cheapest that can be bought. They are fine for pretty fires but useless for heat. And the second you tr...

RE: Another Dumb question agaiin from me...
That won't work either. The panels in a factory built fireplace aren't made to withstand heat, they are made to reflect heat away from the box. The whole concept of factory built fireplaces are to keep heat away from the combustible surfaces that are as close as 2in. These systems are like a washer ...
