Have a Have a 1998 Nordyne model # MMHA-070ABHR-5. Would like to wire for emergency generator use. is there a way other than going through a transfer switch?

I have direct ignition. With -15 degrees and -41 wind chill, I did not particularly want to crawl on roof, tomorrow temps are to moderate to 0 degrees oh Boy, Yea

Have a 1998 Nordyne MMHA-070ABHR-5 furnace. t The lower part of roof jack is starting to be encased in ice. 1998 Nordyne MMHA-070ABHR-5 and use of a generator
Have a 1998 Nordyne model # MMHA-070ABHR-5. Want to use a 3500 watt generator for power outages. My furnace tech says some models of Nordyne furnaces circuit boards do not like running on generators. Is this an issue with this model ?
