Re: All New Plumbing??
I meant to ask about the Apollo white plastic-looking push fittings. They are cheaper, but I didn't know if I could get some feedback about their dependability. Has anyone used them with success or are they a waste of money? Lowe's sells them here, but I can also purchase Gator/Sharkbite fittings lo...

Best Heat/AC option for us?
We want to get rid of our split system and have a single unit that sits outside and provides both heat and air. What is the most cost effective way to do this? I read the "How to add A/C to your mobile home" article, but I'm a little confused about furnaces and heat pumps and air handlers....

Re: All New Plumbing??
Ok, so we finally did a bit of looking around under the house, and it appears that we would have to remove the insulation from underneath the house in order to access the old plumbing, so here is my questions. Is it possible to make all the connections before installation underneath the house (as in...

Re: Poorly Done Exterior Walls - Need Help
Ok, that looks great. My husband is getting started this coming week. Before we put the windows in though, let me ask this.
Can you tell me what width Vycor to use? I was thinking 6", but they have a 4" and a 9" as well.
Thanks!
Lisa S.

And how would the steps be different for an UN-flanged window? Am I able to add flange or no?

Re: Poorly Done Exterior Walls - Need Help
That looks good, but they use a sill pan, and i've read that you don't have to use one if you know how to flash tape the tyvek on the bottom of the window. Also, the "weather resistive barrier" they mention several times...is that the tyvek? And "Install Vycor head flashing under weat...

Re: Poorly Done Exterior Walls - Need Help
Hey Greg We got the siding tool, and we are about to tear down the old front porch and start with the osb/tyvek stuff. We have to cut out and re-frame spaces for our new windows, though, before the OSB can go up, and I've done some research already, but still a little unsure about secure installation...

All New Plumbing??
We are re-doing the plumbing because the locations of bathroom and kitchen fixtures are all moving. Allthe plumbing in on the back half of the house and will stay that way. Questions: Is mobile home plumbing run through the floor joists or is it suspended below them? Is it possible to basically cap ...

Poorly Done Exterior Walls - Need Help
Hi there, Just a question of how best to resolvea problem with our exterior walls. I just discovered that Fleetwood did not line the front and back exterior walls of our '96 doublewide with OSB. They did line the sides. Needless to say, this is a nightmare for insulation purposes. We are about to re...

Re: More Specific Ductless/Mini Split AC Question
I am pleased with the responses and with knowing that others are on fire for Christ. :-) It is a relief to NOT hear that I made a huge mistake buying these. We are sure it will work for our home better than buying larger units and only two or three of those because of the way our house is set up. Ev...

Hi! I really appreciate your quick response to past queries and I have benefitted a lot from taking your advice(s) :-) I am asking now about something VERY detailed, so I'll keep it simple and if you can help at all, please let me know. We are installing several mini splits in our home. We already o...

Rock Bottom Water Bill
OH how much I love to save money! :-) So, my husband has been living in his current doublewide home with a water bill starting at approximately $45 and when his brother and sister moved in, around $88. I moved in and it remained about the same until (drum roll please!) I began to read online about l...

Re: Huge Remodel Project
I know, right? :-) Well, I'm pleased to hear that about the windows. We will certainly be careful for any wires or anything. Anyone know where there are a bunch of mobile home layouts and interior design pictures? Probably the toughest thing right now is to decide where to build the walls to separat...
