No access to shower plumbing
I am looking to pick back up a project to re-do all my plumbing with PEX (going with PEX-A): I spec'd this out WAAY back in 2012 ( https://www.mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9018 )! I believe that I only have one issue to resolve, and that's how to connect up to the master bath s...

Re: Should skirting hang over edge of slab?
Not exactly freeze-free here- PNW.
Being on a slab would it really matter? I'm trying to get my head around all the possible dynamics: I can understand non-slab and non-pier installations being sensitive to freezing.

Re: Making open concept
I'm guessing that if there's no supporting blocking underneath the home that is under any of that wall then no, it's not structural. HOWEVER, that might not be conclusive because someone may have set up the home incorrectly. So... as Greg suggested, probably will have to contact the manufacturer: th...

Re: Combining two rain gutter downspouts
Probably a little late to be of help to the OP, but... I get a LOT of rain, in the vicinity of 70"/year! If you take an area adjacent to your house that's equal to 1/2 of your roof area that adjacent area is getting TWICE the amount of water/rain fall as is coming straight down from the skies! ...

Re: Should skirting hang over edge of slab?
Greg, I really like what you did. I can't seem to find those panels around anywhere. How do/did you facilitate access "doors?" Here's a picture that kind of shows the situation I have, the extra width on the slab, and the skirting framing (note top is attached directly to home): Skirting.j...

Question on your skirting
What is that darker band of material delineating? Why wasn't the lighter material above run down to the top edge of the skirting)?

Re: Should skirting hang over edge of slab?
OK, thanks for the input. I'll do some more pondering. But... Is it correct that the skirting should be free floating, not attached to the home itself? (reason for the tracks [upper]?) As mentioned, I have some framing for the skirting and (I believe) they connected it to the rim joist. The skirting...

Re: Should skirting hang over edge of slab?
Hi, Greg!
No tracks, just pressure treated wood framing for attaching the T1-11 skirting. The sealer along the bottom has long since departed.
Haven't looked at this in quite a while. I seem to recall that they had attached the skirt frame to the home, which I thought wasn't correct?

Should skirting hang over edge of slab?
WOW, hard to believe that it's been six years since I was first inquiring about this ( https://www.mobilehomerepair.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=46049#p46049 )! Many projects have kept me away from doing repairs on the home. Now that they're finished I'll be, finally, getting around to the home, but on...

Re: replace all water lines?
I've got a project all mapped out for completely replacing all my existing plumbing (PVC in a double-wide) with PEX. Unlike most folks, however, I plan on using PEX-A ("Uponor" - original manufacturer of PEX). PEX-B, which uses crimp rings, is what you find in all the big box stores. PEX-A...

Re: PEX (plumbing) questions
Here's what the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) have to say about this (I think that I'll look to consult here more often): [From http://www.ashireporter.org/articles/articles.aspx?id=1568] Approved piping materials Another common mistake made by the weekend warrior is to use PVC pipe to ...

Re: Special water heater for mobile home
OK... I was thinking you had to shoehorn your pan into the HWH closet. My pan's top diameter (they taper a bit, larger dia on top, smaller on bottom) is actually greater than the width of my closet; I'm going to have to mash the pan in place, somehow, and then try and get my plumbing holes worked ar...

Re: PEX (plumbing) questions
Just an update on my planning... I'd been mulling over having two locations for manifolds, with two 3/4" lines running a cold and a hot to the other set of manifolds. The IDEA was fairly elegant because I'd be spanning a run of 20' between the two areas with only two lines. But... one area wher...

Re: Special water heater for mobile home
Terri, from what I've been able to glean, with ELECTRIC hot water heaters it doesn't matter, as long as you've got suitable power (electrical circuit has sufficient amps/volts [most are 240v]) and it fits*. * Make sure it can fit through everywhere it needs to get through until it lands in it's inst...

Re: Run dryer vent behind washer?
Once again I'm impressed with Greg's suggestions/solutions. In case it didn't get properly digested, here's what he suggested: Build a raised platform and route the ducting underneath the units. If you've got front-load units this would probably make things even better, as it would raise things up f...
