Re: Insurance
I'll second the vote for Foremost - my neighbor lost his lattice and carport roof in a storm, Foremost shelled out immediately for the replacement. I have my own home insured through them, and their rates are reasonable!

Re: Ive started my Solar hot water project
If you add the pump, you may want to consider adding a solar panel to generate the power for it. Since it's a 12v pump, you would need to use a converter to convert 120v AC to 12v DC, and that thing will suck up electricity whether the pump is drawing power or not. A solar panel will only generate e...

On the rust front, don't forget to remove the shower heads and any water filters from taps before you flush the pipes out - saves a lot of cleaning up afterwards!

Agreed Greg, however if it had been converted to electric, it may still have the outside door and no interior access panel.Greg wrote:Outside doors are usually reserved for gas water heaters.

Fleetwood actually have floor plans available on the web - click here for a direct link, enter your zip or city/state and they will show the plans available for that area. You should find your model number listed and a quick study of the plan will reveal the hiding place! The hard way of doing it is...

Unless you're in Minnesota where Miller just lost their sales license! Nice job though!

Re: wall thickness
Extending the floor outwards is not really an option. As has been discussed elsewhere in these forums, a manufactured home is factory built, as opposed to being built on site, and the materials used are often designed for exactly the stresses that would be imposed by the original design walls. The m...

As an ex-Brit, I'm all too familiar with the weather in the UK - it's one of the reasons I moved some place warmer  For those that haven't experienced it, Britain is an island, so temperatures are very much moderated by the surrounding seas. In summer, highs of 60-70 are common, over 70 and...

Re: Crawl Space Venting
Firstly, you should address that rainwater issue - water off the roof should not run into the crawl space, so a french drain system may help to alleviate that part of the problem. (Shallow trench dug with a perforated pipe at the bottom and filled with gravel). Without doing this, then the rainwater...

If you're firing off PMs or just want to post here, I have a large shed project coming up in a few months and I don't think my B&D dual battery is up to it, so a new driver/drill is called for! Sounds interesting!

I vote Honeywell also - they have good products, a good warranty, and great support. Also their documentation is very clear and easy to follow, even for a self-install!
Hope that helps!

Re: Window shades
OK, now I understand what you are looking for. With roller blinds, you typically measure the width and height which the blind itself will cover. If you look at the image above for vertical blinds, you will see there is both an inside and an outside mount, and the same applies to roller blinds. Since...

0.0 A few more bits of wood and you'd have been better starting with a bare bones chassis and building a new one! Nice to see the progress photos though, thanks for sharing! Did you hit any problems with the work so far, anything unusual that might be worth passing along as a tip? Mind runnin...

Re: Window shades
Hello and welcome! Firstly I'd like to clarify something. When you say "window shades" are you referring to the shutter type shades on the outside of the window, or do you mean the blinds that typically hang on the inside of the window? A picture paints a thousand words, so here's a few th...

Re: Shake/Movement felt inside home
I recently had my home professionally leveled, and while it did eliminate the creaking floors, I still get the vibration from the top loading washing machine running right through the home on the spin cycle. Sometimes it is more noticeable than others, mainly when washing things like heavy towels an...
